NextGEN Gallery ShortCodes


NextGEN Gallery is the most popular image gallery management plugin for wordpress. Thanks to the author Alex Rabe for creating this wonderful plugin, I pretty much use it on all wordpress websites I created. I have created this page to share my knowledge about the usage of this plugin.

List of Short Codes for NextGEN Gallery


For a slideshow :[ slideshow id=x w=width h=height ]
For a album : [ album id=x template=extend] or [ album id=x template=compact ]
For a gallery : [  nggallery id=x ]
For a single picture : [ singlepic id=x w=width h=height mode=web20|watermark float=left|right ]
For a image browser : [ imagebrowse r id=x ]
To show image sorted by tags :[ nggtags gallery=mytag,wordpress,...  ]
To show tag albums : [ nggtags album=mytag,wordpress,...  ]

For different number of columns for different pages: Define custom filed in the page: ngg_gal_Columns

  1. I've got a gallery with ~20 pictures, showing 9 pictures per page. http://felskader-bw.de/perschmannaxel/?page_id=96

    Modifying the ngg_gal_Columns Value (Standard: 3, Specific for this page: 4) works fine in the first place, but as soon as i move on to page 2 of my gallery, the value is back at Stardard:3

    Is there a way to make that change persistent for all 3 thumbnail views (1-9,10-18,19-20)?
